Table games and slot machines will be affected by scheduled service interruptions as Bethlehem’s casino transitions from the Sands name to Wind Creek.

“Upgrades and improvements” being made to Wind Creek Bethlehem’s systems will lead to the interruptions to the gaming floor, according to a post on the casino’s website.

Wind Creek Hospitality closed on its $1.4 billion purchase of the Sands Casino Resort Bethlehem on May 31.

Wind Creek’s parent, the Alabama-based Poarch Bank of Creek Indians, earmarked $15 million for rebranding in their first three months of ownership, and the casino plans to invest about $340 million updating and expanding the property.

The first interruption will affect table games, except electronic table games, starting at 6 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 20, when the casino will switch the table chips over to Wind Creek branded chips.

Table games are expected to fully re-open at about 10 p.m. Tuesday. The live-dealer electronic blackjack, roulette and baccarat games will remain open during this time.

On 6 a.m. Aug. 26, about 1,200 slot machines will be taken out of service, the casino said. About 2,000 slot machines will be available for casino patrons, in the smoking and non-smoking sections.

Then, at midnight into early the morning of Aug. 27, the casino’s slot free play will be unavailable until a system upgrade is done.

Slots free play should resume at about 2 p.m. that day, the casino said. A limited number of slot machines will be available, but table games will remain open.

While signs around the property have been changed, crews were continuing to work to replace the sign on the black ore bridge out front along Daly Avenue (Route 412).
